The Reader 8

In the beginning of autumn, Michael began to betray her. But it doesn’t mean that he leaks her secrets or makes fun of her. That is, he didn’t let others know about Hanna. He ignored her. One day, Hanna suddenly appeared in front of Michael when he was playing with his friends. It was the first time that they meet without appointment. The next day, Hanna moved out without saying goodbye to him. There’s a sentence “he know it’s too late” but I don’t understand what is “too late” for Michael so far.

The Reader 7

At this chapter, something in Michael’s mind starts to change… He was happy, but sometimes he wonders which place is better to belong. It means, he can’t decide Hanna or his friends of school to spend the time in everyday life longer. On his eighteenth birthday, he was playing with his friends at the poolside near their school. They celebrated his birthday there. Michael could be relaxed and could feel comfortable when he’s spending time with the boys. After that, he visited Hanna on the way home. But she didn’t celebrate him because she hadn’t known his birthday. In addition, she was in a bad mood then so she treated him cold. When something like this happens, he felt he wants to back to the life before he encounters her.

The Reader 6

At this chapter, Michael decided to have a trip with Hanna. Michael is excited and prepares for the trip, and also Hanna is looking forward to it. They ride on the train, and visit some places changing hotels often. During the trip, they had trouble only once. One morning, Michael wake up early and went to cafeteria in order to bring breakfast. He left a note on the table, but when he came back to the room, Hanna was awake and she was very angry so that she slapped him on the cheek with leather belt. She couldn’t find the memo, so she thought he left her alone. Strangely enough, the memo disappeared. He has never seen Hanna gets emotional like this, so he thought he knew her childish, surprising aspect.
