The Catcher in the Rye 4

Good evening. This week, I’ll write about chapter 9 to 11.

Holden arrive New York, and he found cheap hotel. He met older girls there, and drinks with them. He seems he wants to pretend to be an adult.

Chapter 9 and 11 was about his flashback. He thinks about his younger sister. He really loves her. He misses his sister because he left his hometown. Also he can’t forget his past girlfriend, Jane. In this part, he praises everything of her. He could be relaxed when he’s with her. I felt he is still attracted to her.

His story lacks coherence, but not boring. I’ll continue reading. Thank you for reading.

The Catcher in the Rye 3

Hello.

I read to middle of chapter 9 last week. Two students who live in dormitory with Holden have conversation in the chapters from 3 to 7. One is Ackley. He is Holden’s neighbor in dormitory. He has terrible, dirty teeth and he boast because he is older than Holden. So he is hated from others. Another student is Stradlater. He is Holden’s roommate. He is handsome, self-satisfied boy. He is popular and he likes girls. One day, they fought because Stradlater said Holden’s backbiting. Holden really tired of them, so he decided to leave school without mention. He caught train heading NY. After that, he reaches NY, and stays cheap hotel.

Thank you for reading.

The Catcher in the Rye 2

I read The Catcher in the Rye larger number of pages than last week. In the beginning of the story, the main character, Holden Caulfield is a seventeen-year-old boy, was said to quit his boarding school by principal. This story is written by his eyesight.  In chapter 2, he was scolded by the principal about his attitude and poor report. While he is talking to him, he continued complain. He seems he hate everything about school including study, teachers, and even looks and tone of voice of principal. He is a teenager and he is in puberty. So I think it’s natural that he resists society. He’ s going to go many different places alone, so I’m looking forward to read next chapter.
Thank you for reading my blog.

the Cathcer in the Rye 1

I chose “the Catcher in the Rye” written by D. J. Salinger in 1951, in America. This is a famous book among American people, and I think most of students who major in English and literatures study this work at least once. However I haven’t read it, I don’t even know its story. This is why I chose this book.

I will write about the story roughly. The main character is teenage boy who lives in dormitory. One day he was expelled from school (school told him to quit school), so he leave dormitory and tries to go back his home.

Actually, I have just finished reading the begging so I can’t write much about the book. Next week I will try writing a lot.
